If you're connecting Lessonspace to a custom website, application, or third-party integration, you may need to generate an API key. This guide explains how to create, manage, and revoke your Lessonspace API key.
Lessonspace uses hashed API keys, a secure, industry-standard method of authenticating API requests.
Generate an API Key
To generate an API key:
Go to Settings → Developer.
Click Generate a new key.
Copy and securely store your API key.
Important: Your API key is only displayed once. Be sure to copy it before leaving the page, as it cannot be viewed again.
Revoke an API Key
You can revoke your current API key and generate a new one at any time from the Developer page.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication
For security reasons, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) must be enabled on your account before you can generate an API key.
FAQ
What is an API key?
An API key is a secure credential that allows another system - such as a custom website, application, or integration - to communicate with Lessonspace.
Do I need an API key?
If you use Lessonspace through the dashboard, you probably don't need an API key. You may need one if you're:
Connecting Lessonspace to another platform
Using a custom integration or LMS
Working with a developer to build an integration
Why can't I generate an API key?
Only Account Owners and users with the Developer role can generate API keys. You'll also need to have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your account. If you're unable to generate a key or need the required permissions, contact [email protected].
