New to Lessonspace? This guide covers the essentials you need to join your first lesson, participate in your Space, and know where to get help.
Access your lessons
Your teacher or organization will let you know how to access your Lessonspace lessons. You might receive a direct link to a Space or access Lessonspace through another platform.
If your organization requires you to use the Lessonspace Student Dashboard, you can log in to find your Spaces and previous sessions.
Check your setup
Before your first lesson, we recommend joining your Space or the Demo Space to make sure everything is working correctly.
When you join, allow your browser to access your camera and microphone and check that the correct devices are selected.
You can also use the built-in Troubleshooting menu to check your camera, microphone, speakers, and connection. When everything is ready, you'll see Everything looks good!
Get familiar with your Space
Your Space is your online classroom. It combines video and audio with collaborative tools you and your teacher can use together.
Whiteboards and Documents
On a Whiteboard, you can draw, type, add shapes, and work on activities together with your teacher.
Documents are used for more text-based activities, such as writing, notes, and longer pieces of work.
Your teacher may also add worksheets, PDFs, images, and other resources for you to work with during your lesson.
Chat
Use the Chat to send messages and links during your lesson. It can also be useful if you're having trouble hearing your teacher or need another way to communicate.
Follow your teacher with Leading Mode
Your teacher may use Leading Mode during your lesson to keep everyone on the same page.
When Leading Mode is on, you'll automatically follow your teacher as they move between tabs or around the Whiteboard. You don't need to do anything. If you need to move somewhere independently, your teacher can turn Leading Mode off.
Leave your lesson
When your lesson is finished, you can simply close the browser tab.
You can also select End Session, then Leave Session, to leave the Space.
Your Whiteboards, Documents, and other Space content are saved automatically, so you can return to the same Space later without losing your work.

Do I need to download anything?
No. Lessonspace runs in your browser, so there's no software to download. Make sure you're using a supported browser and device.
Do I need a Lessonspace account?
Not always. Your teacher or organization will let you know how to access your lessons. You may receive a direct Space link, use a Student Dashboard, or join through another platform.
Will my work still be there after my lesson?
Yes. Content in your Space is saved automatically, so you can return to your Whiteboards, Documents, and other lesson materials when you use the same Space again.
Why am I automatically moving around the Whiteboard?
Your teacher is probably using Leading Mode. This keeps you on the same tab and part of the Whiteboard as your teacher.
Can I download my Whiteboard?
Yes. Students can download a Whiteboard as an image or PDF from the Whiteboard tab menu.
